Definition of success!

The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory belongs to the LORD. Proverbs 21 : 31

Good morning to you all.

A young man asked Socrates the secret to success. Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him toward the river. When the water got up to their neck, Socrates took the young man by surprise and ducked him into the water. The boy struggled to get out but Socrates was strong and kept him there until the boy started turning blue. Socrates pulled his head out of the water and the first thing the young man did was to gasp and take a deep breath of air. Socrates asked, “What did you want the most when you were there?” The boy replied, “Air.” Socrates said, “That is the secret to success. When you want success as badly as you wanted the air, then you will get it.” There is no other secret.

How do you define success today? Do you believe that you can do whatever you deeply desire? Do you believe in your self today? Friends, the world may define success in that way. But The Holy Bible says the victory belongs only to the Lord. It doesn’t belong to you, your hard work, your talent, your knowledge or anything else.

Because my Bible says, the Israelites did nothing, but the Lord fought the battle for them. David did nothing, but singing praises and by the help of the Lord he killed the giant Goliath with just a stone and a sling. Moses did nothing, but he could make a snake out of the stick. Without anything on their own, Moses and Joshua walked on the dry ground when the great Red sea and Jordan were divided. Without any great effort, because of Joshua’s prayer the sun stood still. With a prayer, Hezekiah was able to get fifteen more years added to his life. The Lord was with Joseph. He was taken from the prison and was made a Governor in Egypt, a foreign country. The Lord was with Daniel. He faced victory in whatever he did. He even came out of starving Lions’ den. The Lord was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed Nego when they were thrown into the fire. Not even their dresses or hair burnt. Are these not the amazing victories? Do you believe anyone can achieve it by sincere and hard work? No... No one can do it, except with the help of the Lord. The Almighty is our only strength. If He is with us and for us, who/what can shake us?! Let us learn to define success this way.

Incredible kindness!

Do not neglect doing good and sharing; for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13:16  Good morning, friends! He was a seller of second-hand shoes. He seemed to be in his 70’s, and was so tired as nobody was buying his shoes. Then, a little girl came to him saying, " Sir, may I polish your shoes?" The old man took pity on her, smiled and gave her a shoe to polish. The girl said, "I polish the shoe because I need money to buy my brother a new school uniform." The old man replied, "Oh, little girl just stop doing this. Come with me and I will buy a uniform." Then they walked to a store and he bought a uniform. This act of incredible kindness, shown by someone who has so little for himself, proclaims an ultimate truth. The Bible talks a lot about showing kindness. A few sample verses are given below. “Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the f...

Lazarus' Deliverer

Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2:18 Easter is the most special day in the history that gave hope to the mankind! Lazarus, the brother of Martha and Mary was dead four days before Jesus reached Bethany. Jesus loved that family and they loved him as well. He was not there when Lazarus was sick. Lazarus was buried when Jesus reached Bethany. His sisters were weeping. Jesus also wept. They told Jesus, “Lord, if you have been here, Lazarus would not have died.” They moved on to Lazarus’ tomb. There was a stone across the entrance. Surely there was bad odor. Yet, Jesus said, “Take away the stone. If you believed, you would see the glory of God.” He prayed and there came Lazarus alive with his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” God’s love is the same toward everyone! He doesn’t show favoritism. He love...

Confusing gospel

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! Galatians 1 : 6 – 9 Good morning, friends. Today let us see about something which I heard from a pastor on Sunday. And kindly please read even though it’s long. We all should be aware of it certainly. Before that, here comes a funny incident. After a worship service at Church, a mother with a fidgety seven-year-old boy told me how she finally got her son to sit still and be quiet. About halfway through the sermon, she leaned over and whisper...
