In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. Job 1 : 1
Good morning, friends. Last evening in our fellowship, we had a discussion on Job 1st chapter. At first I thought how that would be, as it was one of the toughest Books in the Holy Bible. It’s hard for me to understand everything out of it. Thank God, but the Lord is awesome! He led all of us so beautifully. This week, I would like to share what we had, with you all. I’m sure it would strengthen you as well, as it helped me! This week’s thoughts are not shared by an individual, but everyone has contributed. So one more thing, I would like to insist is, if you have a fellowship, all of you in your fellowship, try meditating on the same Book. The Lord will interpret the same passages to each one of you differently. And this will help you in seeking and understanding the hidden truths better and that’s another reason why God wants us to be a part of fellowship. He too believes in team work. I remember reading ‘Team work divides the work and multiplies the effect’ in International Daily Bread. Thanks!
Let us give the first verse a read. In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. Job 1 : 1
In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. Do you think Job was the only man in the entire Uz? Why is the Bible so specific about Job? Why was he so special that his name was the only one to be focused in such a great book? Why does the entire book ‘Job’ talks only about the man named ‘Job’? We have lots of other books in the Bible, say for e.g. Genesis talks about Adam to Joseph, Exodus talks about Moses, Joshua and the Israelites, Kings and Chronicles talks about the great kings like David, Solomon, Asa, Jehoshaphat, Jotham, Hezekiah, Josiah, etc,... But this book ‘Job’ talks only about Job everywhere. Why? Did you ever think of it? This is the only book which cannot be linked with any other book in the Bible. Amazing, right?! Okay let us move on.
The next line gives us the answer for why Job was that special. It’s because this man was blameless and upright. He feared God and shunned evil. Let us go back to Genesis 1 : 27 which says, So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; The first man, Adam was the only one who was flawless, as God created him in His own image. God is flawless, and the man he created remained flawless and perfect until he sinned. That is why, Job 1 talks about a man, who was flawless and who feared God and upright and who ran away from the evil things of the world. The Lord has special purpose for this special man who honored God with all his heart and in whatever he did.
Let us analyze who we’re today. God created everything and when He looked back, He saw that all was good and good and good everywhere. There was no manufacturing defect when the Creator, God Himself created man out of dust and breathed into his nostrils and when he created Eve from the rib of Adam when he slept. But later when God saw that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, He was not happy with that as they lost the image of God and so we too are born in sin. We make this simple, smooth life so complicated by concentrating on the forbidden things like sins, desires, lusts, jealous, pride, etc,… Where are you today? Are you with God and at least trying to be the man and the woman of God? If not, it’s not too late for you to turn back to God, so that you can preserve His image.
Look forward to read more about Job 1. May God bless!
