For with God nothing
shall be impossible. Luke 1
: 37
Do you
feel that you are going nowhere just because you find yourself stuck with
things that bother you? Then this is absolutely for you.
Yesterday,
I was surprised to see Siddhu smiling at me early in the morning at around 6:20
AM. He is 5 years old now and I live in his home as a paying guest. He
held my hand and took me downstairs to show me a thick piece of paper
on which he had cut and pasted Angry Birds’ green pigs. (Angry Birds
is a game in which the players use a sling shot to launch the birds at pigs, with the intent of destroying them.) He had cut these out of the
fruit gummies wrapper I had given him the previous day. He also
colored the entire sheet of paper in green. While I stood, surprised
to see how cute that was, he again took me to the kitchen, opened a cupboard, and
gave me a yellow fruit gummy. He had never done that before. I
told him that I hadn’t even brushed my teeth yet. He replied,
“That’s fine. Take it up and eat it after you brush your teeth.” What a smart
boy! He insisted, and so I took it with me. This made me feel quite happy
and so I started getting ready to go to the office, with
tons of smiles on my lips. Kids make our world beautiful!!!
He is a
big fan of Angry Birds. He has many T-shirts that have Angry Birds
pictures with many funny texts like ‘I have an angry face’, ‘I am an angry
boy’, etc... That night, I saw him hanging around his mom and crying. When
I asked her why, she told me that he wanted her to find the tape so
he could work on that green colored paper again. When she didn’t give it
to him, he really got angry and tore the paper to pieces. Once he realized that
it was destroyed, he started crying. It took a long time for her to
console him saying, “It’s okay. We can buy another one for you.”
It was
funny to me. Recently I have been getting angry, even for small things.
I didn’t yell at anyone. But the anger that we show openly is much
better than the hatred we hold inside our heart. Pretty simple things
disturb me a lot. But I know the magic reason for why I sometimes behave
differently. I need to get closer to God. I have to have my
feet rooted deep in Him. His strength will enable me to stand
strong. I heard this phrase at Church: ‘When God is on our side and we are on His side, it doesn’t
matter who is on the other side.’ I know we can find complete peace only in Him. But
when things get worse day by day, I become afraid that things cannot be
set right. But Siddhu’s “It’s no more” is easily erasable by his mother’s “Let
us buy another one.” It really conveys a lot more than what I wanted
to tell myself. Our pastor during His sermon preached, “Our God is a god of chances.” Breaking something several times
is easy for us. But we have a God for whom rebuilding is possible. Now I
really have hope that
for God nothing is impossible and through Him we can do anything.
Just
shake off the dust that is covering you and be willing to rise
up again. Seek His help. He is waiting to rebuild the broken things in your
life!
