He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you." Exodus 15:26
March 27 is a special day in my life. Here is a quick recap of why it is special.
On March 27, 2011, I was admitted in a hospital in Nashville as I had a severe pain in my lower abdomen. The doctors told me that it could be due to cancer, kidney stones, bla bla… I was very shocked to hear that, as I was so far away from my family. Suddenly I felt like an orphan. I cried all day long. The doctors told me that the pain may come again anytime. But Jesus reminded me about this verse: Exodus 14:13. “Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.” To me, my Egyptian on that day was the pain. The world said that the pain may come again, but the Lord said it would never come again. You know what? The Lord won, as always! One full year has passed, and I have never experienced the pain again. Praise God!
Today when I read Matthew 9, I came across several types of healing. Verses 1-7 talk about the paralytic man who was carried by four men and was healed. Verses 18-19, 23-26 talk about the daughter of the ruler, who rose from the dead. Verses 20-22 talk about the woman who was delivered from her bleeding ulcer that had plagued her for 12 long years. Verses 27-30 talk about the blind men who received sight. Verses 32-33 talk about a demon possessed man out of whom the demon was driven. The entire chapter talks about healing. But they happened in different forms.
The paralytic man was healed, and his sins were forgiven by the faith of the men who carried him. The daughter of the ruler was saved by her father’s faith even after she was dead. The woman was delivered from her long suffering by her own faith. In fact the power from Jesus came out from Him when the woman touched the edge of His cloak. The blind men got their vision because they believed that Jesus was able to do it.
The faith of the people, and the faith of their loved ones, healed them all. Do we have trust in Him? I saw a juice bottle wrapped by a label that says, “Trust me; I am good” in H-Mart two days ago. The Lord, who has done great and mighty things in our lives, so far is so good. We can always trust Him. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He has the same power He had in Matthew 9. We need to take a step in faith. Are we ready today?
May God bless you!
